REVIVING ORIGINS
The sustainability challenges of coffee cultivation – and more specifically high-quality coffee cultivation – are widely recognized.
Farmers are exposed to certain uncertainties and risks, such as from climate change and economic volatility, threatening their livelihoods. That’s why, in 2003, our sourcing team partnered with the Rainforest Alliance to develop an innovative and sustainable approach to coffee sourcing. Based on this Nespresso launched Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program the same year to ensure sustainability and quality in all levels of our company.
Reviving Origins program is one of Nespresso’s program that coffee farmers can join to get help to restore their coffee production in areas that have been exposed to challenges due to climate or political unrest.
This is a long-term commitment from both parties. Reviving Origin is rooted in the belief that quality coffee, and profitability for coffee farmers, can be a catalyst for long-term sustainability and resilience to farming communities and economies. It is important to say that Reviving Origins is not only a driver behind economic development, but also with a purpose for socially engaging development. The Reviving Origins program takes these foundational principles of sustainable quality coffee cultivation and adapts them so that they are able to support the rebooting of coffee production in these neglected regions.
